Well, here I am, making a blog entry. The Earth has stopped spinning on its axis. The Sun has switched itself off. Cats and dogs are living together, sipping pina coladas and talking philosophy. This is what happens when blogs are written. But, there is a conundrum...I am not writing. I am typing.
There is a massive difference between the two, that is, that there is no pen involved in typing and there is usually one (or a similar implement) involved in writing. Suffice to say when you are writing a story, you cannot say that it is being written when a computer is being used. People would never dare say they are writing a letter when they are using a typewriter. Why do they persist in saying that they are writing when they are really typing. I don't understand the mentality. One wouldn't say that they were 'flying' into space on the space shuttle would they? They would say they were 'zooming'. That's proper astronaut terminology.
Did you know that astronauts and cosmonauts are practically the same thing. The latter are Russian and the former seem to be most everybody else. Cosmo- and astro-. That would mean that the womens magazine 'Cosmopolitan' is originally a Russian publication. The Australian version should therefore be called the 'Astropolitan'
How come cosmology, by definition, is 'the science which investigates the origin of the world' [British Empire Illustrated Dictionary Of The English Language, 1936], when astrology generally refers to a bunch of cranks trying to read messages in the stars. Cosmonauts travel out of the Earth's atmosphere to study the 'cosmos'. Sounds reasonable. Do astronauts travel outside the Earth's atmosphere to study the 'astros'? No, because there is no such thing. So, what the hell are they doing up there? It's a reasonable question. I don't believe astronauts have the right to punch holes in the atmosphere just so they can study something that isn't real. Let the cosmonauts up there to study something that is real I say! That way, we might actually learn something. Stop the barrage of false profits (hee hee hee). Send in the Russians!!!
Of course, when you look at the "naut" bit of cosmonaut and astronaut, I am assuming that it is derived from Nautili- a genus of cephalopods, including those furnished with a chambered uni-valve shell. At this point I become confused. I know not of one astronaut or cosmonaut with eight or ten tentacles and a protective ink-jet. Why is that? I do not know.
Therefore, an astronaut would be a being with eight or so tentacles, a large, cephalic head, a protective ink-sprayer and absolutely no productive reason to be in space in the first place.
A cosmonaut would be a similar being with eight or so tentacles, a large, cephalic head, a protective ink-sprayer and a valid reason for being in outer space. Cosmology, the study of the origin of the earth and the cosmos.
While we're on the subject, have you ever seen a Japanese astronaut?

So what's a juggernaut then???????
But Kitna, I say that this is unfair. Anybody who writes is not typing, unless using a typewriter or computer, and then they are not writing.
As for the word 'juggernaut'. It may apply to a Hindu cephalopod, but that is mere speculation. More to come on that one I think.
yes, but did you say that? I didn't hear you. I only read what you had typed.
Soichi Noguchi, 40, is the sixth Japanese astronaut to go into space ... they exist, Chris! :)
That is a most interesting development. I'm wasn't saying that there had never been a Japanese astronaut, I was just wondering if there had been and if there hadn't been then, why not. My curiosity is sated. Thank you Marina, :)
On the other hand, has there ever been a Japanese cosmonaut? Being that Japan is at such a high technological level, you'd think they'd associate themselves with a space program that studies the cosmos instead of the imaginary astros.
A Soyuz capsule with a crew of Russian, Belgian and Japanese cosmonauts is lifted
off the deck of our training ship, and lowered onto the rocking Black Sea. ...
Yes, Chris! :p
Thank you once again Marina. You are a veritable wealth of information (and a seasoned Googler :) ). I am glad to hear that there have been Japanese astronauts and cosmonauts. They can judge the merits of both sides.
I'm a russian Japstronaut.
LOL Anonymous!
CHRIS - where's chapter 15??????
I am terribly sorry but chapter 15 will not be forthcoming. I am terribly superstitious and I have chosen number 15 to be superstitious of, maybe because it's halfway between 10 and 20, I'm not sure, but as numbers go, 15 terrifies me. Thusly, chapter 16 will be making its way to the desired location in the very near future.
